Like the choir, the music group also has a great deal of fun and thoroughly enjoys accompanying the hymns on most ‘second Sundays’ during the year – probably nine services in all. At the present time our group comprises… piano, 2 trumpets and 1 trombone, a clarinet, an oboe, an alto saxophone, a violin, a cello and a double bass. We only rehearse on the morning of a service (at 8.50am) so a little bit of personal preparation is needed beforehand. All the music is specially arranged for each instrument and differing levels of ability by Martin, the Director of Music
We are always interested to hear from instrumentalists of all ages who would like to join the Music Group. We have players from aged 10 to over 90. Obviously, unlike choir, you do need to be able to read music. The greater your ability, the more interesting Martin can make your parts each time.
