Season of Remembrance 2025

November draws us into a season of remembrance – a time to recall with gratitude the saints and souls who have gone before us, and to honour all who have given their lives in the cause of peace.
From All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days to the Feast of Christ the King, we journey through the closing weeks of the Christian year, reflecting on the communion of all God’s people, living and departed.
Saturday 1st to Sunday 30th November.

Finding Jesus Through Matthew
with The Rt Revd Dr John Inge KCVO
Wednesday 5 November 2025, 10.00am – 11.15am at Holy Trinity
We are delighted that Bishop John will be leading an introductory course on Matthew’s Gospel: Finding Jesus with Matthew, on Wednesday 5 November, from 10.00 am to 11.15 am at Holy Trinity.
The Revised Common Lectionary provides the framework for reading Scripture on Sundays in many Anglican parishes and other denominations. It follows a three-year cycle, taking each of the synoptic Gospels in turn and reading substantial portions within the rhythm of the liturgical year. While each year focuses on Matthew, Mark, or Luke, the Gospel of John also has a prominent role at certain times.
Bishop John will help us to see how Matthew’s Gospel can be understood, illuminated, and interpreted for our discipleship. He will explore the setting in which it was first written, the way it is presented in the lectionary cycle, and the themes and concerns that shape its message. We will be invited to encounter afresh the story of Jesus through Matthew’s Gospel.
For all enquiries and to sign up, please email the Benefice Office at beneficeoffice@htboa.org with your full name.
Matthew’s Gospel will also be a highlight of our Lent Course 2026.

Holy Trinity – New Concert & Recital Series
Thursday, 30th October at 12.00pm
After a successful and well-received opening recital, we’re delighted to announce the second in our new concert series at Holy Trinity: an Organ Recital given by Director of Music, Martin Cooke.
Though Music, and the organ and church music in particular, have played a hugely significant part in Martin’s life, his career was largely focused on teaching and school leadership, culminating in 22 years’ headship at Clayesmore School, Dorset. He was a chorister for five years at St Paul’s Cathedral, Organ Scholar of Bishop Otter College, Chichester, Director of Music and Deputy Head at Bembridge School and Director and Conductor of the Isle of Wight Youth Choir. He became Headmaster at Clayesmore Preparatory School in 1994 before, six years later, taking up the headship of Clayesmore School for a further 16 years. In retirement, he and his wife, Eleanor, have become grandparents to three boys, and, since 2017, Martin has been Director of Music at Holy Trinity, working with our choir, music group and the whole church community. He has served as a governor of both Exeter and Salisbury Cathedral Schools, and, since 2019 has been on the board of Wells Cathedral School. Martin’s programme will span music from the time of Bach to the present day, demonstrating the complete versatility of our temporary digital organ.
This is also an exciting moment for organ music at Holy Trinity, as we look ahead to the recommissioning and rededication of splendid Henry Willis III organ in its centenary year in 2025. Please join us on Thursday, 30th October at 12.00pm for what promises to be an inspiring and memorable recital.
Retiring collection with all proceeds to the church. We look forward to announcing details of our third recital on November 13th, 2026. soon.
Exciting News !
After an inspiring, moving and well attended licensing service in Holy Trinity, Rev’d Jenny Nelson says, “it is a great honour to respond to God’s call to serve as Rector of the Benefice of Bradford on Avon Holy Trinity, Westwood and Wingfield. Having lived and served in Wiltshire for many years, coming to Bradford on Avon and its surrounding villages is like returning home, and it is a wonderful privilege to be given the opportunity to work collaboratively, with compassion, energy, and parity, for all to flourish. I hope that with God’s grace we will answer God’s call, making Jesus known inside and outside of our church buildings, inviting others to “come and see.”
Bring others with you.
“Come and see! You will always be warmly welcomed.”
We look forward to seeing you soon.
The Rev’d Jenny Nelson
Rector of Bradford on Avon Holy Trinity, Westwood and Wingfield.
